The PJC Opens Doors, Creates Partnerships to Enhance Mission

JBannerby Lisa Brachman
Executive Director – BounceBack Kids

BounceBack Kids’ mission is to enrich the lives of children with serious medical conditions and their families through free, year-round recreational, athletic, and social activities offered in a caring and supportive environment that is medically safe.
Program participants are children who struggle with physical limitations and seek to regain a sense of normalcy in their lives. Since 2003, BounceBack Kids (formerly known as Hoop Dreams) has proven an invaluable asset in the healing process of these children and offered them moments of joy and companionship in otherwise difficult times.
Working with the Jewish Community Center, we hope to be able to provide stability and consistency for these young people whose lives are often filled with uncertainty. Establishing our home base at the new JCC will help us provide participants with a reliable home away from home where they can simply bounce a ball and laugh with their friends. We share with the new Community Center a commitment to serving people from broad segments of our community and are confident that this new home will attract children and families from throughout the Triangle.
Together, BounceBack Kids and the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation make a winning team, and we’re proud to be a part of this unique and mutually beneficial relationship.
