… and away we go!
After years of planning and preparation the Durham Chapel Hill Jewish Federation and Lerner Jewish Community Day School have literally broken ground for the new Charlotte and Dick Levin Jewish Community Center! This comes just 14 months after the completion of the campaign’s initial project, the Early Childhood Pavilion for the Lerner Jewish Community Day School.
The new community facility, which will be home to the Federation, Jewish Family Services, the Jewish Community Foundation, the Shimm Senior Activity Center, the Israel Center, the Holocaust Education Center, the Center for Interfaith Dialogue, the BRIDGES Program for people with special needs, and hundreds of programs and activities for the entire Durham and Chapel Hill communities, including JCC Summer Camps and BounceBack Kids!
Late spring 2011 we’ll all join together in our new permanent home for a grand opening celebration – along with a dip in the pool, a game of basketball with the kids, a concert, schmoozing over a cup of coffee or countless other community gatherings!
It’s not too late to be a part of this historic project! Your contributions to the capital campaign or the programs that will bring our new home to life are still needed – click here for more information.
